Summer Reading Recommendations – Kids Books

School is (finally) finished for another year! Que the endless choruses of “I’m Bored!” that is bound to last the next three months. It can be hard to find things to keep the kids entertained during the summer months that will equally keep them off the screens and having fun when we can’t really do as much or venture as far. Reading is bound to be your best friend this summer, the perfect activity for some stay at home fun. Here at Midland Books, we have put together a fun summer reading list packed full of kids books sure to make your little ones fall in love with reading!

Slime by David Walliams

Slime is one of David Walliams most recent releases and is the perfect fun and engaging summer read. To be completely honest, any David Walliams release is sure to be a roaring success among children and any from his series would be an excellent summer reading activity!

Dork Diaries: Dear Dork by Rachel Renée Russell

Dork Diaries is an excellent kids books series to get your child interested in reading this summer. The books tell the story of Nikki Maxwell and her not-so-fabulous life. Dork Diaries is funny, light-hearted and sure to engage even the most resisting readers!

Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger

Another great series for summer reading! We recommend picking a series of kids books that will last a whole summer of reading. This series follows a telepathic young girl as she tries to figure out why she is the key to her new world before the information falls into the hands of the wrong person.
